Free Knitted Dishcloth Patterns

I've been busy making dishcloths. They're a great hostess gift when visiting friends. Roll up a few and put a bow around them.

These are also a good way to get started if you are new to knitting.

These are all 7" x 9" but will shrink to 7" x 7". If you want them longer, knit more rows.

I used Peaches & Cream cotton yarn from Walmart which was cheaper than cotton yarn at some of the hobby stores.

Needle size: U.S. 6, 4mm, or UK 8

Pattern 1

Pattern Row 1: Knit
Pattern Row 2: Knit 5, purl 20, knit 5

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until dishcloth measures 7"

Knit 10 rows
Cast off

Pattern 2 (basket weave)

Pattern row 1: Knit 5 (purl 5, knit 5) repeat until last five stitches, knit
Pattern row 2: Knit 5 (knit 5, purl 5) repeat until last five stitches, knit
