I'm always on the hunt for ideas to use up odd pieces of yarn and converted another pattern (knitted hedgehog) into a crochet mouse.
If you prefer to knit the mouse, use the hedgehog pattern but use just one color and either garter stitch or stocking stitch. Crochet the ears.
You can either use braided yarn or ribbon for the tail.

Sew ears on mouse.
You
can use beads for eyes, or French knots for the eyes and nose using
black yarn or use safety eyes.
